Ishaan is a lover of the outdoors and always wants to experience new things. His family is very adventurous too and together, they have visited unique destinations. These family vacations have been a memorable part of Ishaan’s childhood and have not only strengthened his bond with his family but also given him exposure to some of the most remote places on the planet. He has learned to survive in nature and be at one with the wilderness, which has not made him more in awe of our planet. This is also one of the reasons why he is so passionate about a greener and more sustainable world, and he wishes to preserve these exquisite natural wonders by science, technology and innovation.
His most exhilarating experience was the Everest Base Camp Trek. He, along with his family, navigated uncharted and rugged terrains to arrive at their final goal. Reaching the base camp gave him a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, and an adrenaline rush like never before. His passion for wilderness grew stronger as he saw real-life Dzo (himalayan yak-cow hybrid), musk deer and then finally yaks (at Namche bazar) – he was in awe. Along the way he also encountered the local population and learned about their culture. Their immense love for the Himalayas inspired him and he also wished to be in harmony with his surroundings. He learned about the hardships they endured due to bad weather and earthquakes, and pledged to help them in the future via scientific innovation.
The following year, his family and him undertook one of the toughest treks of the Himalayas – The Annapurna Base Camp. This was another thrilling experience that taught him more about Nepalese culture and the natural world. He understood the importance of not giving up and overcoming hardships to attain fulfilment.
Their family is also a keen lover of safaris – they have visited Kenya, South Africa and the Indian jungles of Madhya Pradesh. This increased his knowledge of animals and gave him exposure to unique experiences that enabled his character development.
Along with his sister, he started a wildlife page on Instagram to share their love for nature with others. The name of the account ‘FlamingCliffs’ took inspiration from their unforgettable trip to Mongolia, where they visited The Flaming Cliffs, an extraordinarily beautiful part of the Gobi desert made of reddish-orange sediments where the first ever dinosaur egg fossils were found. On this account, they documented their most memorable escapades and posted informative material about wildlife. To engage their audience even further, they conducted weekly quizzes about animal facts.
Other than this, he also enjoys Skiing and Horse riding during his family vacations. He has visited Iceland, Kazakhstan and Maldives among other exotic destinations.
